A Young Man’s Struggle
From the Streets of Pain to the Promise of Tomorrow
A young man wakes before the sun,
Another day, another battle to be won.
His shoes are worn, his pockets light,
But in his heart, he carries a fight.
He walks through streets where dreams have died,
Where too many mothers have stood and cried.
Where fathers are missing and hope seems small,
And young men wonder if they'll make it at all.
They tell him he's nothing, he'll never succeed,
But they don't understand what a young man needs.
Not another prison, not another grave,
But someone to believe in the dreams he can save.
He struggles in school, he struggles at home,
Surrounded by people, yet feeling alone.
He sees others prosper, he wonders why,
While his own dreams seem too far in the sky.
But deep in his soul, a fire still burns,
With every mistake, another lesson he learns.
He may fall down, he may lose his way,
But yesterday's pain won't define his today.
He's not just a statistic, a number, a name,
He's a child of promise, not a child of shame.
He's somebody's grandson, somebody's son,
A young man whose journey has only begun.
Give him a chance, give him a hand,
Give him the tools to rise and stand.
Teach him to build, to dream, to grow,
And watch how far that young man can go.
For greatness isn't measured by where you begin,
But by the courage to rise and try again.
His struggle is real, but so is his worth,
He was born with a purpose upon this earth.
So don't count him out, don't bury his dream,
There's more to his future than what we have seen.
And when the world tells him he cannot be,
Let him stand tall and shout:
"I AM SOMEBODY!
I AM WORTHY!
I AM FREE!
MY STRUGGLE IS NOT THE END OF ME!"
Because a young man's struggle
Is not the end of his story.
Sometimes the hardest road
Is the road that leads to glory.
Written for the young men who struggle, the families who love them, and the communities that must never give up on them.
A closing thought: "We cannot save every young man from struggle, but we can make sure no young man has to struggle without hope."
